Arts on Main Van Buren welcomed 11 art educators from Fort Smith area schools for a dynamic Professional Development Day. Participants engaged in a rich agenda featuring improv games to spark creativity, a facility tour showcasing our galleries and studios, and hands-on art projects like "Emotion Murals" and "Dream Weavers" designed to foster emotional expression in students.
The day concluded with a meaningful discussion on the "Stewards of Children" training; exploring how art can create safe spaces for students to express complex emotions. The activities were designed to provide these educators with innovative tools and strategies they can confidently incorporate into their daily classroom practices to enhance arts integration within the curriculum and positively impact student well-being.
