Faces
In Faces, Ms. Lewis builds upon her lifelong curiosity of light and shadows, as they form the individuality and personality of all things living. It prepares her for capturing the essence of her subject. Her love and involvement with animals, as a horse breeder, brings a personal knowledge of each muscle, movement and expression. As she applies her brushstrokes or feels the clay under her fingers, they mimic a caress of each subject as it emerges before her. Lewis sees every part of the world as a moving painting, created by the master artist. The obsession with trying to capture the life in it in stillness is what drives Lewis.
“This body of work marks an ambitious evolution in her practice over the past two years, blending traditional oil painting techniques with her experiences as one who explored Europe and the Middle East, its people, and its horses through her involvement with the Arabian horse. Simply put, it is from a love of life in every form.”

From the Mountains to the Sea
Spanning landscapes from Florida to California, the exhibition explores moments of stillness and the restorative harmony found in nature. Laird’s paintings invite viewers to slow down and discover the subtle movement, light, and life that can easily be missed at a glance.
“When my soul craves rest, I can find it sitting quietly in nature where I can observe its hidden characteristics that can’t be seen in a fast glance. When you take the time to look, there is such aliveness within a scene that at first looked still, that it calls to be seen and celebrated. My work is the task and joy of answering that call.”
Laird has exhibited with nationally recognized organizations including Oil Painters of America, the National Oil and Acrylic Painters’ Society, and the American Impressionist Society. Her work has been featured in Fine Art Connoisseur’s Today’s Masters and Plein Air Magazine’s Portfolio and Postcards From the Road. Her paintings are held in private collections as well as the Private Collection of the Federal Reserve Board Bank in New Orleans. Her coastal paintings have also been featured in three solo exhibitions.
