    For any medium beginners to advanced.

    Bring your art supplies and paint with us in this open studio painting session. Bring a lunch and your own project to work from and specialized supplies. The art center has paints and brushes. We provide good conversation and moral support, and only critique if you want.

  • Open Studio Life Drawing Sessions

    Tuesdays, 3:00 pm-5:00 pm
    Thursdays, 6:00 pm-8:00 pm

    Free

    Draw from a live model in various mediums, with the model provided in person, as well as appropriate lighting, seating and easels. Gesture drawings will begin the session, leading into extended poses for more elaborate works. Bring your drawing materials.

    In this lecture, photographer Corey S Krasko, will cover the history of photography from its invention in 1837 to around 1950, before color photography became widespread. Exploring key developments that made photography accessible to the public. This conversation will also examine how photography influenced the rise of Modern Art, as artists used the medium to explore new ways of capturing and interpreting reality.

    In this plein air painting class, learn to capture the vibrant natural world directly from life. Suitable for all skill levels, the first two sessions will focus on foundational techniques in the studio. The final session will take place at Meyer Park along the Arkansas River, where you'll apply your skills outdoors. Master observation of light, shadows, and landscapes in real time, while honing composition, brushwork, and color mixing skills. Bring your own supplies and lunch.
