Arts On Main Theatre

After decades as the beloved and historic King Opera House for community theater, Arts On Main is proud to build on that legacy by producing our own theatrical productions. Our first production, The 39 Steps, in 2023, was met with lots of enthusiasm, showing us there's a deep well of talent, passion, and support right here in the heart of Van Buren. We’re committed to creating meaningful artistic opportunities - whether that’s giving local actors a creative outlet, sharing impactful stories with our community, or preserving the charm of the King Opera House while breathing new life into its historic walls. This is just the beginning of our investment in the performing arts. Join Arts On Main to experience, engage with, and enjoy the arts like never before. We look forward to welcoming you to the newly restored seats in September for this year's performances and an exciting new season of AOM Theater in 2026.

Junie B. Jones the Musical JR.

It's Junie B.'s first day of first grade, and a lot of things have changed for her: Junie's friend, Lucille, doesn't want to be her best pal anymore and, on the bus, Junie B. makes friends with Herb, the new kid at school. Also, Junie has trouble reading the blackboard and her teacher, Mr. Scary, thinks she may need glasses. Throw in a friendly cafeteria lady, a kickball tournament and a "Top-Secret Personal Beeswax Journal," and first grade has never been more exciting.

Junie B. Jones the Musical JR. is an Arts On Main Theatre production and part of our Arts In Education program performing at King Opera House.

The Miracle Worker

The Miracle Worker dramatizes the true story of Helen Keller, a girl from Alabama who was blind and deaf, and Anne Sullivan, the woman who taught her language. It is a love letter to the teachers who never give up, even when their students seem beyond reach. Language, whether it is spoken, written, or signed, is depicted as the key to unlocking a world of possibilities for anyone, regardless of whether they have a disability. Though the Keller family and Annie Sullivan are in constant conflict at the beginning of the play, they learn a great deal from each other by the end. The Kellers learn that Helen is capable of more than they ever dared to imagine. And Anne Sullivan, or Annie, in the midst of fighting for Helen to have a better life, learns to love again.

The Miracle Worker is a joint project of Arts On Main and the Alma Education and Arts Foundation.
Directed by Jessye Wooten
