AZALIA MOLINA is a Honduran visual artist whose ceramic and installation work centers on connection: to place, community, and shared memories. Molina earned a BS in Business Administration and Art from the University of the Ozarks (2018) in Clarksville, AR. She was awarded the M-AAA Artists 360 Practicing Artist Grant (2023), the Arkansas Arts Council Individual Artist Fellowship (2024), and completed a Ceramic Artist Residency at the Community Creative Center in Fayetteville, AR (Spring 2025). Her work explores the intersection of tradition and contemporary form, incorporating elements of traditional textiles, natural clay tones, and spaces that evoke cultural memory. Moving beyond functionality, her ceramic pieces transform into sculptural works that evoke shared histories and personal identity. Through her work, Molina honors the craftsmanship of past generations while embracing innovation, celebrating the resilience and vibrancy of Latin American stories.
So what’s De Pata y Sazón all about? It’s a phrase I came up with to bring together two ideas that represent us: De Pata is about being grounded, firmly rooted in who we are and where we come from. Sazón is that spark, that flavor, that passion we as Latinos bring to everything we do, y’know, that "I don’t know what" that makes us unmistakably us. This project feels like coming home. It’s a tribute to who we were and who we are today. It’s that deep feeling of missing home while carrying it with us in every color, every memory, and every flavor. With an organic and folkloric style, the show features acrylic paintings of iconic fruits and linocut prints of popular meals and brands paired with familiar sayings. But there's more, an installation inspired by Latin American street markets, complete with handmade pottery, hammocks, hanging textiles, and all those little details that transport us back to spaces filled with connection, conversation, and community.
De Pata y Sazón is a celebration of cultural pride. A blend of who we were and who we continue to be. It’s about how our roots keep us grounded... and full of flavor. This exhibition has been made possible by Artists 360, a program of Mid-America Arts Alliance, with support from the Walton Family Foundation.
