John Lee, current Associate Professor of Painting at William & Mary, holds a certificate from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, a BFA from the University of Pennsylvania, and an MFA from the University of Indiana in Bloomington. John specializes in oil painting, focusing on color, light, space, and weight in his work. While he has explored traditional genres like still life and self-portraiture, his main focus is on capturing interior spaces. John's artwork has been exhibited nationally, primarily in the northeast region, including a solo exhibition at First Street Gallery in New York in 2019. He has been a member of the Zeuxis Still Life Association and the Midwest Paint Group. John also previously served as a juror for the Bethesda Painting Awards, covering Virginia, Baltimore, and Washington D.C.
